Quest log: on this page
Every empire in TerraX starts underground. Before you ever swing a sword in the arena or list a single ingot on the market, you're in the mine — pickaxe in hand, ore on the screen, and that satisfying moment when the rock cracks and your inventory fills. Mining isn't just one activity among many; it's the backbone of the economy. The materials you pull from the earth become the weapons you forge, the gear you wear, and the USDT you earn when other players buy what you've gathered. This guide walks you through how mining works from a player's perspective and how to get the most out of every session.
The Mining Loop
When you open the Mine Shaft (or head to Explore and choose mining), the game shows you an ore with a health bar. Your job is to deplete it by dealing damage. Your equipped pickaxe has a damage value — that's how much you contribute per hit. Click or tap to swing; your damage adds up until the ore's health reaches zero. When it breaks, you've completed that ore. You receive materials into your inventory, experience toward your level, and sometimes an extra loot drop if the ore can grant one and luck is on your side. Then the next ore appears and the cycle continues.
Think of it like a clicker or idle game with real stakes: you're not just watching numbers go up. The materials feed the rest of the game — forging, cooking, and the marketplace. Each completion costs energy, and if your pickaxe is damageable, each ore you break wears it down a bit. So you're always making choices: mine more now, or save energy for battles and dungeons; push your current tool, or repair and protect it for longer runs.
Your Pickaxe Decides What You Can Mine
Ores in TerraX have a tier, and so do tools. You only encounter ores whose tier is at or below your equipped pickaxe's tier. A tier‑1 pickaxe will only ever show tier‑1 ores. A tier‑5 pickaxe can show ores from tier 1 up to tier 5. It's the same idea as in many RPGs and MMOs: better gear unlocks access to better resources. You're not just mining faster with a better pick — you're opening the door to rarer, higher‑value veins.
Within what your tool allows, you won't see the same block every time. Rarer, higher‑tier ores show up less often, so with a tier‑3 pickaxe you might get a mix of tier‑1, tier‑2, and tier‑3 ores — with the best stuff appearing less frequently. That's why upgrading your tool matters: it expands what can appear and gives you a shot at the materials that sell and craft best.
You must have a pickaxe equipped to mine. If your tool is currently in use by an idle miner, you can't use it for active mining until you equip something else or free it up. The game will tell you if that's the case. No tool, no ore — so keep an eye on your Character screen and make sure you're wearing the pick you want to use.
What You Get When the Ore Breaks
Every completed ore gives you at least one thing: materials. Which materials and how much you get vary by ore type; you'll see them go straight into your inventory. If you're in a guild that has invested in mining research, you can get a yield bonus — the same ore might give you a bit more per completion. Consumable effects (like certain food or potions) can also boost yield for a time, so stacking those before a mining session can be worthwhile.
Some ores can also drop extra items — loot boxes or other goodies. Your tool's luck stat improves your odds for these bonus drops. It's not guaranteed, but when it hits, it's a nice extra on top of the materials. During special themed events, mining can grant event currency when you complete ores; your tool's luck helps there too. A pickaxe with good luck pays off over time in extra drops and event rewards.
You earn experience for every ore you complete. That XP feeds your player level and progression. So even when the material from a particular ore isn't worth much on the market, you're still advancing. Durability is the flip side: if your pickaxe is damageable, each ore you break wears it down. When durability hits zero, you have to repair the tool before you can mine with it again. Keeping a repair recipe in mind (or buying repairs) is part of the loop.
Energy and Your Choices
Each mining completion consumes energy. Your energy pool refills over time (and can be affected by items or subscriptions). So you can't infinitely mine in one sitting — you're choosing between spending energy on mining, boss battles, dungeons, fishing, and so on. That keeps the economy balanced and makes your decisions matter. Play at a natural pace and you'll get the most out of mining; the game is built to stay fair and rewarding for everyone.
Forestry: The Same Idea, Different Tool
TerraX has a forestry mode alongside classic mining. Instead of ores and a pickaxe, you're chopping trees with an equipped hatchet. The flow is the same: you get a tree, you deal damage until its health is gone, you complete the action and receive materials (and possibly drops). Your hatchet's tier controls which trees you can encounter — only trees at or below your hatchet's tier can appear. Everything we've said about pickaxe tier, materials, yield, and luck applies in spirit to forestry too. If you like variety, splitting your time between mining and forestry is a solid way to gather different resources and use different gear.
Where You Can Mine
You can mine from the Mine Shaft or from the Explore area. If you use TerraX Pro and have selected a specific mining floor, the ores you see can be based on that floor. For most players, your pickaxe tier decides what appears. Either way, better tools and the right location open up better veins.
Practical Tips
A few principles hold no matter your level:
Equip your best pickaxe for the tier of ores you want. Higher tier means access to rarer ores and better materials.
Check the market before long sessions. If a material is selling well, focusing on ores that can drop it is a smart use of energy.
Use food or consumables that boost mining yield or luck when you have them. They multiply the value of each completion.
Guild research can add mining bonuses (e.g. yield or luck). If you're in a guild, see what's unlocked and plan around it.
Watch durability. If your pickaxe is damageable, repair it before it hits zero so you're never stuck without a tool.
Why It All Matters
Mining in TerraX isn't filler content. It's the pipeline that feeds forging, cooking, and the marketplace. The materials you pull from the ground become the gear you use in boss battles and PvP, and the listings that earn you USDT. Understanding how ores, tiers, tools, and drops work lets you spend your energy wisely and get the most out of every swing. Equip the right pickaxe, keep an eye on durability and energy, and use yield bonuses, luck, and market prices to your advantage. The mine is where the journey begins; with this guide, you're ready to make it count.
